The Emirates NBD Darna Visa Signature is the mid-tier rung of ENBD’s Darna co-brand. AED 315 inclusive of VAT on paper, currently waived for life under a May 2026 promotional offer; AED 12,000 minimum salary, no salary-transfer requirement; 7.5% back as Darna Points at Aldar destinations and 1% elsewhere — redeemable against rent and service charges in Aldar communities, and dining and leisure at providers inside the network.
- Annual fee
- AED 315 incl. VAT
- Min salary
- AED 12,000/mo
- Welcome bonus
- 3k Darna Points
Pros
- AED 315 fee currently waived for life (May 2026 promotional offer) — Signature chrome at no annual cost while it lasts
- 7.5% back as Darna Points at Aldar destinations — meaningful for Aldar-community residents and Yas Mall regulars
- Automatic Darna Gold tier — discount and access uplift inside the Aldar network
- No salary-transfer requirement — clean approval path at AED 12,000 minimum salary
Cons
- Lifetime fee waiver is promotional — if revoked, the AED 315 + VAT fee returns and the maths tightens
- Darna Points only redeem inside the Aldar / Darna partner network — no airline transfers, no cash-out
- 1% on non-partner spend is below par for a Signature-tier card vs flat-rate cashback at the same band
- 1.99% FX fee — usable abroad but not the zero-FX card sometimes claimed in legacy marketing
Earn rates
Earn is expressed as % value back as Darna Points (10 Darna Points = AED 1), redeemable inside the Aldar / Darna partner network — not as miles per AED and not as cashback:
Fee summary
The standard fee is AED 315 inclusive of VAT, currently waived for life under a May 2026 promotional offer from Emirates NBD. Treat the waiver as conditional — confirm at application that the offer still applies to your slot, and check the renewal letter each year. The cost to watch is the 1.99% foreign-currency fee — the legacy “0% FX” line you may see on older summaries is not the current published figure. As with any rewards card, clear the statement in full each month — the standard ENBD revolving rate will erase any Darna value many times over.
What you get — per-benefit value
Darna publishes its conversion — 10 Darna Points = AED 1 — so the earn carries honest AED figures, with the standing caveat that the value only exists inside the Darna partner network.
7.5% back at Darna partners
At AED 1,000 a month of genuine partner spend, Value to me: AED 900/year in Darna Points value; at AED 3,000 a month, AED 2,700/year. The upgrade over the Darna Select’s 6.25% is worth AED 150/year per AED 1,000 of monthly partner spend — modest, so the step up is really about the Gold tier and the Signature chrome, not the rate.
1% on everything else
AED 5,000 a month of non-partner spend returns Value to me: AED 600/year — the same arithmetic as a plain 1% flat cashback card, except paid in network-locked points rather than cash.
Welcome bonus + Darna Gold tier
3,000 Darna Points on AED 15,000 of spend in 90 days = AED 300 inside the network, plus the AED 350 YOUGotaGift voucher modelled at AED 280 under our standard 20% voucher discount — Value to me: roughly AED 580, one-time, year one. Darna Gold tier carries no published AED value.
Total package: a household with AED 1,000–3,000 a month of genuine partner spend books roughly AED 900–2,700/year in Darna Points value plus ~AED 580 of one-time welcome value, against AED 0 while the lifetime waiver holds. If the waiver lapses, the AED 315 fee is covered by AED 350 a month of partner spend on the 7.5% rate — a low bar for a genuine Darna household, an impossible one for anyone else.
Key conditions to know
- Darna Points mechanics
- 10 Darna Points = AED 1 of redemption value. 7.5% back at participating Aldar / Darna partner outlets — Yas Mall, Yas Island theme parks, Aldar hotels, spas and golf courses among them. 1% back on all other spend. Points credit monthly to your Darna account; redeem within the partner network, not for cash and not via airline / hotel transfer.
- Welcome bonus
- 3,000 Darna Points on AED 15,000 of card spend within 90 days, plus an AED 350 YOUGotaGift HappyYOU Card on successful online application, plus automatic Darna Gold tier. We discount voucher value at 20% on our calculator, so the modelled value is AED 280 on the voucher; the 3,000 Darna Points are worth AED 300 inside the partner network.
- Annual fee waiver
- Standard fee per the Schedule of Charges is AED 315 inclusive of VAT. Emirates NBD is currently offering a lifetime waiver as a time-limited promotional offer (May 2026). Confirm the waiver is still in force at application and re-check at each annual renewal.
- Salary transfer
- Not required. Minimum salary AED 12,000 a month, credited to any UAE bank. Salaried applicants only at this tier.
- Foreign-currency fee
- 1.99% on every non-AED transaction. Older marketing summaries described this as a 0% FX card; the figure verified against the issuer page is 1.99%.
- Eligibility
- Minimum salary AED 12,000, UAE residency required, age 21+. Documentation: Emirates ID and passport copy (with visa page for expatriates), salary certificate, latest three months’ bank statements, and a security cheque.
Watch out for
- The fee waiver is promotional, not contractual. AED 315 inclusive of VAT is the Schedule-of-Charges fee; the lifetime waiver is a May 2026 offer that Emirates NBD can end. Plan for the AED 315 returning at renewal — and decide whether the maths still pencils at that point.
- Confirm your Darna partner exposure before applying. The 7.5% rate only pays at outlets inside the Aldar / Darna network. If your rent goes to a non-Aldar landlord and your grocery and fuel spend is at non-partner merchants, you are earning 1% on the bulk of your card spend.
- No airline or hotel transfers. Darna Points have one home: the Aldar / Darna partner network. There is no points-to-Skywards or points-to-Marriott escape valve.
- 1.99% FX fee. Older marketing called this a zero-FX card. The current published figure is 1.99%, so it is not the right card for international spend.
- Clawback on closure. Standard ENBD card terms claw back welcome offers and tier status if the account is closed inside the first twelve months — relevant if you may leave the UAE or switch banks within the year.
Bottom line
For the Aldar-adjacent household at AED 12,000+ a month — tenants in Aldar communities, Yas Mall regulars, households that route dining and weekend entertainment through the Aldar list — the Darna Signature is a credible step up from the Select while the lifetime fee waiver holds. The 7.5% partner rate is real money, the AED 350 voucher and 3,000-point welcome are useful, and Darna Gold tier adds a discount layer inside the network.
It’s the wrong card if your spend doesn’t live inside the Darna list — 1% non-partner earn is uncompetitive against flat-rate cashback and the 1.99% FX rules it out abroad. Apply if your spend genuinely lives at Darna partners; skip otherwise. If qualifying Aldar spend exceeds AED 30,000 a month, the Darna Visa Infinite’s 10% partner rate may justify its AED 1,575 fee — the Signature is the rational middle.
