Emirates NBD Darna Select Visa review (May 2026) | DubaiPoints

Welcome bonus 250 AED voucher

The Emirates NBD Darna Select Visa is the entry rung of ENBD’s Darna property-and-lifestyle co-brand. AED 0 annual fee, AED 5,000 minimum salary, and 6.25% back as Darna Points at the Aldar destination list — redeemable against rent and service charges in Aldar communities, and dining and leisure at providers inside the network.

Pros

  • AED 0 annual fee with AED 5,000 minimum salary — easy entry, no salary transfer
  • 6.25% back as Darna Points at Aldar destinations — meaningful for Aldar-community residents and frequent Yas Mall / Yas Island spenders
  • Automatic Darna Silver tier on activation
  • No salary-transfer requirement — clean approval path for new residents

Cons

  • Darna Points only redeem inside the Aldar / Darna partner network — no airline transfers, no hotel-programme conversion
  • 0.75% on non-partner spend is below flat-rate cashback cards at the same fee tier
  • 1.99% FX fee — usable abroad but not the zero-FX card it was sometimes presented as
  • Welcome voucher (AED 250 face value) ceilings the upside for non-Aldar households

Earn rates

Earn is expressed as % value back as Darna Points (10 Darna Points = AED 1), redeemable inside the Aldar / Darna partner network — not as miles per AED and not as cashback:

0.75%value back as Darna Points (10 pts = AED 1)

The card is AED 0 to hold. The cost to watch is the 1.99% foreign-currency fee — the older “0% FX” line you may see in legacy summaries is not the current published figure. As with any rewards card, clear the statement in full each month — the standard ENBD revolving rate will erase any Darna value many times over.

What you get — per-benefit value

Darna is one of the few UAE programmes with a published conversion — 10 Darna Points = AED 1 — so the earn can carry honest AED figures. The caveat on every line below: the value is only realisable inside the Darna partner network. No airline transfer, no cash-out.

6.25% back at Darna partners

At AED 1,000 a month of genuine partner spend, 6.25% returns Value to me: AED 750/year in Darna Points value; at AED 2,000 a month, AED 1,500/year. Run your own partner number honestly — this line is the entire case for the card.

0.75% on everything else

AED 5,000 a month of non-partner spend returns Value to me: AED 450/year — against AED 600/year from a plain 1% flat-rate cashback card on the same spend, paid in cash rather than network-locked points. Treat the non-partner earn as a rounding term, not a reason to hold.

Welcome voucher + Darna Silver tier

AED 250 YOUGotaGift voucher on online application — modelled at Value to me: AED 200, one-time under our standard 20% voucher discount. Darna Silver tier has no published AED value; treat it as a discount layer, not a number.

Total package: a household with AED 1,000–2,000 a month of genuine partner spend books roughly AED 750–1,500/year in Darna Points value plus the one-time AED 200 voucher, against no annual fee. A free card with a real return — but only if the partner exposure is real. If it isn’t, the countable value collapses to the 0.75% line and a flat cashback card beats it outright.

Key conditions to know

Darna Points mechanics
10 Darna Points = AED 1 of redemption value. 6.25% back at participating Aldar / Darna partner outlets — Yas Mall, Yas Island theme parks, Aldar hotels, spas and golf courses among them. 0.75% back on all other spend. Points credit monthly to your Darna account; redeem within the partner network, not for cash and not via airline / hotel transfer.
Welcome bonus
AED 250 YOUGotaGift HappyYOU Card on successful online application, plus automatic Darna Silver tier. The voucher is digital and spendable across the YOUGotaGift merchant list — we discount voucher value at 20% on our calculator, so the modelled value is AED 200.
Salary transfer
Not required. Minimum salary AED 5,000 a month, credited to any UAE bank. Salaried applicants only at this tier — self-employed routes through the higher Darna cards.
Foreign-currency fee
1.99% on every non-AED transaction. Older marketing summaries described this as a 0% FX card; the figure verified against the issuer page is 1.99%.
Eligibility
Minimum salary AED 5,000, UAE residency required, age 21+. Documentation: Emirates ID and passport copy (with visa page for expatriates), salary certificate, latest three months’ bank statements, and a security cheque.

Watch out for

  • Confirm your Darna partner exposure before applying. The 6.25% rate only pays at outlets inside the Aldar / Darna network. If your rent goes to a non-Aldar landlord and your grocery and fuel spend is at non-partner merchants, you are earning 0.75% on the bulk of your card spend — a no-fee flat-rate cashback card will earn more.
  • No airline or hotel transfers. Darna Points have one home: the Aldar / Darna partner network. There is no points-to-Skywards or points-to-Marriott escape valve. Hold this for the Aldar use case, not as an open-ended rewards account.
  • The welcome offer is a voucher, not a points bonus. AED 250 face value on YOUGotaGift, discounted to AED 200 on our calculator. Useful, not transformative.
  • Clawback on closure. Standard ENBD card terms claw back welcome offers and tier status if the account is closed inside the first twelve months. If you are likely to leave the UAE or switch banks within the year, the voucher value is at risk.

Bottom line

For the Aldar-adjacent household — tenants in Aldar communities, Yas Mall regulars, households routing dining and weekend entertainment through the Aldar list — the Darna Select is an easy free keep. The 6.25% partner rate is real money, the AED 250 welcome voucher is useful, and Darna Silver adds a modest discount layer, with no annual fee or salary-transfer commitment to balance against.

It’s the wrong default card for anyone else: the 0.75% non-partner rate is well below a flat-rate cashback card, and Darna Points have no exit ramp out of the Aldar ecosystem. Apply as a secondary card if your spend list genuinely lives at Darna partners; skip as a primary — pair it with a broad cashback card if you take it at all.
