  • Direct Skywards earning — no transfer step, no ratio loss

Cons

  • Earn rate quoted in USD — actual AED rate is ~0.41 Miles per AED on partner spend, below the Infinite's 0.54 miles per AED

  • AED 735 annual fee from year two with no published spend-waiver path

Welcome bonus breakdown

Up to 40,000 bonus Skywards Miles credited on activation and qualifying spend — headline value sits around AED 800 at our 2 fils-per-mile baseline, enough to cover the year-two fee with room to spare.

What you get — per-benefit value

Per the 2 fils-per-mile baseline we use for every UAE Skywards co-brand review. Add the numbers up against the AED 735 year-two fee.

Welcome bonus

40,000 Skywards Miles on activation and qualifying spend. Value to me: AED 800 at the 2-fil baseline — clears the AED 735 year-two fee outright. A single regional Y-to-J upgrade (DXB → MAA from 30,000 miles each way at saver) typically extracts AED 1,200–1,600 of cash-fare value against the same 40,000 miles, lifting the realised return above the cost-basis figure (methodology on the Skywards programme overview).

Visa Airport Companion lounge access

Unlimited cardholder visits at 1,000+ lounges worldwide — cardholder only, no guest included (the Infinite adds one). At an AED 200 walk-in equivalent per visit: Value to me: AED 800/year for a four-trip-a-year flyer travelling solo, AED 400/year for the two-trip case. Family travel erodes this benefit — the guest you would have brought into a Priority Pass lounge pays cash.

Earn on AED 60,000 of card spend

The Signature reader profile is the AED 12k–25k earner running AED 60,000 a year through the card. At ~0.41 Miles per AED on partner spend (Emirates, flydubai, duty free, food delivery) and ~0.27 per AED on domestic, blended at roughly 0.32 Miles per AED across realistic spend: 60,000 × 0.32 = ~19,000 Miles a year. At the 2-fil baseline: Value to me: AED 380/year. The Signature’s earn engine is unremarkable — the case for the card rests on the welcome and lounge access, not steady accrual.

Golf and cinema benefits

Complimentary access to selected UAE golf courses (typically a green fee of AED 400–600 saved per round) and BOGO cinema tickets via Visa Entertainer. Value to me: AED 0–600/year — fully load-bearing on whether you actually book a round of golf. Honest editorial line: most cardholders do not; treat as bonus, not justification.

For an AED 12k–25k Skywards Signature holder running AED 60,000 a year through the card, flying Emirates twice with the welcome bonus burnt on a regional Y-to-J upgrade and using the lounge solo on each trip, the total package delivers roughly AED 1,600–2,200/year of value in year one (welcome included) and AED 800–1,200/year in year two against AED 735 of fee. Year two is a positive but tight call — the fee never waives, so plan for it.

Key conditions to know

Lounge access
Visa Airport Companion App, cardholder only (the Infinite adds one guest). Covers 1,000+ lounges worldwide including DXB and AUH.
Golf privileges
Complimentary access to top UAE golf courses. Useful if you book a course or two a year; otherwise inert.
Cinema benefit
Buy-one-get-one on movie tickets via the Visa Entertainer programme.
Salary transfer
Not strictly required at AED 12,000/month, but improves approval odds. ENBD typically asks for 3 months of payslips + a stamped salary certificate — see the salary-transfer tracker.
Fee waiver mechanics
No published spend-waiver. The AED 735 annual fee applies from year two regardless of spend; EU/UK spend earns at half the international rate per Skywards network policy.

Watch out for

  • Earn-rate unit confusion. The bank quotes miles per USD, not per AED. Mid-tier mileage cards quoted in AED typically read 2–2.5 miles per AED — this card’s 1.5 miles per USD is roughly 0.41 miles per AED, materially less than that headline suggests at first read
  • No published spend-waiver. Unlike the Infinite’s AED 100,000 threshold, the Signature carries the AED 735 fee regardless of spend
  • Joining-fee hit. AED 1,573.95 in year one is recovered only if you trigger the welcome bonus and use the miles

Bottom line

The Signature breaks even most clearly for the AED 12k–25k earner who flies Emirates once or twice a year and wants direct Skywards earning without the Infinite’s salary or fee bar. The AED 1,574 joining fee + AED 735 year-two renewal is recovered when the 40,000-mile welcome bonus funds a single Y-to-J upgrade on a regional sector — roughly AED 800 in value at our 2 fils-per-mile baseline.

Above AED 100,000 of annual card spend, the Infinite earns enough more on the same partner categories to cover its higher fee inside year one. Below the AED 30,000 monthly salary bar the Infinite imposes, the Signature is the only Skywards on-ramp on a UAE-issued Visa. The working rule: apply below AED 30,000/month salary if you fly Emirates a few times a year; move up to the Infinite once annual card spend clears AED 100,000.
