The Emirates NBD U by Emaar Infinite is the bank’s co-branded Visa Infinite with the U by Emaar loyalty programme. It is built for the resident whose discretionary spend genuinely runs through Emaar’s footprint — Dubai Mall, the Address/Vida/Rove hotel families, and Emaar F&B — and earns 7.5% back as UPoints across that universe.
- Annual fee
- AED 1,575 incl. VAT
- Min salary
- AED 30,000/mo
- Welcome bonus
- 25k U Points
Pros
- 7.5% UPoints on Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Address, Rove, Vida and Emaar F&B
- Automatic U by Emaar Platinum status — suite upgrades (max 7 nights/year), 20% off Emaar Hospitality F&B and spas
- Unlimited Visa Airport Companion lounge access (1,000+ lounges) and 24/7 concierge
- No salary-transfer requirement — eligibility is salary-tested only at AED 30,000/month
Cons
- AED 2,625 joining + AED 1,575 annual is the highest entry cost in the ENBD Visa lineup
- 1.5% on non-Emaar spend is only marginally above the ENBD Plus Points base
- UPoints redeem only within Emaar's 2,500+ partner outlets — no airline or hotel-programme transfers
- Needs ~AED 2,900/month of real Emaar spend for the joining fee to wash on earn alone
Earn rates
All earn rates are expressed as % back in UPoints, redeemable across Emaar’s 2,500+ partner outlets — not as miles per AED:
Fee summary
The card carries an AED 2,625 joining fee in year one, on top of the AED 1,575 annual renewal from year two onwards — both inclusive of VAT. There is no published spend-based waiver on either fee. The foreign-currency fee is 1.99%, levied on every non-AED transaction. As with any rewards card, clear the statement in full each month — the 3.25% monthly interest charge will erase any UPoints value many times over.
Perks worth using
The U by Emaar Infinite is a high-fee Visa Infinite — AED 2,625 joining + AED 1,575 renewal — so the perk stack has to do real work alongside the 7.5% UPoints rate. We’ve put a per-benefit Value to me on each so you can see whether the chrome clears its share of the AED 2,625 year-one joining fee (the AED 1,575 renewal applies from year two):
7.5% UPoints on Emaar spend
The headline rate. Household routing AED 8,000/month through Dubai Mall, Address F&B and Emaar retail: 8,000 × 12 × 7.5% = Value to me: AED 7,200/year in UPoints. Heavy Emaar use (AED 20,000/month — the audience this card is built for): Value to me: AED 18,000/year. Light Emaar use (AED 2,500/month): AED 2,250/year — clears the AED 1,575 renewal but falls short of year one’s AED 2,625 joining fee. The year-one break-even sits at ~AED 2,900/month of Emaar spend, as the Hot tip flagged.
Automatic U by Emaar Platinum status
Tier benefits include 20% off Emaar Hospitality F&B (Address, Vida, Rove restaurants) and 20% off spa treatments. A household dining Emaar F&B AED 1,500/month at 20% off = AED 300/month saved = Value to me: AED 3,600/year. Spa users add roughly AED 400–800/year. Status alone (no discount) wouldn’t earn this back; the discount is where the AED lands.
Suite upgrades (max 7 nights/year) at Address/Vida/Rove
Suite-vs-standard delta at an Address property typically AED 600–1,200/night depending on season and property. Conservative AED 600 × 7 = Value to me: AED 4,200/year if you’ll actually book and use the 7-night ration. Most holders use 2–3 nights/year — realistic mid case AED 1,200–1,800/year.
Unlimited Visa Airport Companion lounge access
The Infinite-tier unlimited-lounges benefit is the genuine chrome here. 1,000+ lounges globally at an AED 200 walk-in equivalent. Four trips a year with a partner (8 entries) = Value to me: AED 1,600/year. Heavy traveller on 10 trips with guest: AED 4,000/year. Most UAE residents fly 4–6 trips a year — the realistic value lands at AED 1,600–2,400/year.
Reel Cinemas BOGO (AED 5,000 monthly spend gate)
Buy-one-get-one at Reel with a free soft drink + popcorn, capped at 3 free tickets per calendar month. Reel standard pricing roughly AED 55/ticket plus AED 25 F&B. Three paired visits/month = 3 × (AED 55 + AED 25) × 12 = Value to me: AED 2,880/year at the full cap. Mid case (one paired visit a month): AED 960/year. Only counts in months you clear AED 5,000 of card spend — most holders of this card clear that.
Welcome bonus: up to 25,000 UPoints
15,000 UPoints credited on activation and joining-fee payment, plus 10,000 UPoints on USD 10,000 (~AED 36,725) of retail spend within the first three billing statements. UPoints redeem at par at Emaar partner outlets: Value to me: AED 250 on activation + AED 167 on the spend tier = AED 417 in year one at the standard 1 UPoint = AED 0.0167 redemption benchmark. Confirm the current redemption rate before relying on this — the UPoints value scale moves with Emaar’s programme.
Visa Infinite chrome (concierge, valet, EPP)
24/7 concierge and Grand Drive valet at Dubai Mall (Galeries Lafayette and The Souk). Valet at Dubai Mall retails AED 50–80 per visit; weekly Dubai Mall visitor (50/year × AED 65): Value to me: AED 3,250/year if you’d pay for valet anyway. Light user (once a month): AED 780/year. 0% Easy Payment Plans at Apple, Carrefour, Emirates, Amazon and Fitness First have an opportunity value of roughly AED 200–500/year on a single AED 5,000–10,000 deferred purchase.
For the intended audience — a Dubai Mall regular routing AED 20,000+/month through the Emaar ecosystem, flying 4–6 trips a year, dining Emaar F&B monthly — the perk stack delivers roughly AED 25,000–32,000/year in combined UPoints + perk value against the AED 2,625 year-one joining fee and AED 1,575 renewal. Outside that profile (Emaar spend under AED 5,000/month, no mall valet need, no Reel cinema habit), the realistic stack collapses to AED 4,000–6,000/year — a much narrower margin against the AED 2,625 joining fee.
Key conditions to know
- UPoints earn structure
- 7.5% back as UPoints on Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Address Hotels, Rove Hotels, Vida Hotels and Emaar F&B outlets (including Atmosphere and Thiptara). 1.5% back as UPoints on all other spend. UPoints redeem instantly at 2,500+ Emaar partner outlets — they are not transferable to airline or hotel programmes.
- Welcome bonus
- Up to 25,000 UPoints — 15,000 credited on card activation and joining-fee payment, 10,000 on cumulative retail spend of USD 10,000 (~AED 36,725) within the first three billing statements. Automatic U by Emaar Platinum status on activation.
- Salary transfer
- Not required. Minimum salary AED 30,000 a month, credited to any UAE bank. Salaried, self-employed or business-owner applicants accepted.
- Reel Cinemas BOGO
- Buy-one-get-one-free movie tickets at Reel Cinemas with a free soft drink and popcorn, conditional on AED 5,000 minimum monthly card spend. Maximum 3 free tickets (6 in total) per calendar month. Online booking only via the Reel Cinemas website or app.
- Hotel suite upgrade
- Complimentary suite upgrade on Emaar hotel stays (Address, Vida, Rove), capped at 7 nights per year. Late checkout to 4pm, subject to availability. Bookings via the brand website or the U by Emaar app to qualify.
- Visa Infinite chrome
- Unlimited complimentary access to 1,000+ global lounges via the Visa Airport Companion app, 24/7 concierge, complimentary Grand Drive valet at Dubai Mall (Galeries Lafayette and The Souk), and 0% Easy Payment Plans at Apple, Carrefour, Emirates, Amazon and Fitness First.
- Foreign-currency fee
- 1.99% on every non-AED transaction. Standard for the UAE Visa Infinite segment, but not a zero-FX travel card.
- Eligibility
- Minimum salary AED 30,000, UAE residency required, age 21+. Documentation: Emirates ID and passport copy (with visa page for expatriates), salary certificate or trade licence, latest three months’ bank statements, and a security cheque.
Watch out for
- ~AED 2,900/month of Emaar spend is the year-one break-even. Below that, the AED 2,625 joining fee is not earned back on the 7.5% rate in year one. Run a twelve-month Emaar audit before applying — restaurants, mall purchases, hotel stays, cinema tickets — and confirm the number stands up.
- UPoints lock you into the Emaar ecosystem. They redeem at Emaar’s 2,500+ partner outlets and nowhere else — no airline transfers, no hotel-programme conversion. If your travel ambitions sit outside Emaar’s footprint, a Skywards or hotel-co-brand card will carry more redemption optionality.
- The 1.5% on non-Emaar spend is thin. It is only marginally above the ENBD Plus Points base; the SC Platinum X or Mashreq Cashback earns more on the same non-Emaar spend. Treat this as a single-purpose Emaar-spend card, not an everyday earner.
- The Reel Cinemas BOGO gate. The benefit is conditional on AED 5,000 minimum card spend in the month. Check your typical monthly card spend before relying on it.
- Valet redirection at Dubai Mall. Grand Drive valet has been periodically rerouted during Dubai Mall expansion works; access is via an OTP generated in the U by Emaar app. Re-verify the current valet location before relying on it for a planned visit.
Bottom line
A bullseye for Dubai Mall locals and Emaar-hotel loyalists; an overpaid Visa Infinite for everyone else. For the household genuinely spending AED 3,000+ a month inside the Emaar footprint, the 7.5% UPoints rate is unmatched in the UAE market and the AED 2,625 year-one joining fee is recoverable — and the automatic U by Emaar Platinum status, suite upgrades and Visa Infinite chrome round it out. Apply if your year of Emaar spend clears AED 35,000 and you value the Platinum status. Skip if most of your spend lands outside the Emaar footprint — the 1.5% non-Emaar rate sits only marginally above the ENBD Plus Points base, and a no-fee ENBD Visa Flexi plus a free-standing U by Emaar account captures the loyalty side without the card fees.
